Chief Administration Office

The Chief Administrative Office of the City of Red Wing is staffed by the Council Administrator, Assistant to the Council Administrator, and the Executive Secretary, and has five divisions within it.

Council Administrator

The Council Administrator is the Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Red Wing. Chosen by the City Council, this person is responsible for implementing council policies including Charter, Ordinance and Statutory obligations. The person in this position supports the City Council in strategic, long-term visioning for the city, works inter-governmentally to accomplish goals, is active with associations and lobbyists to protect the city’s interests at county, state and federal levels of legislation. The Council Administrator provides direction and supervision for Department Heads and is responsible for all day-to-day operations.

Assistant to the Council Administrator

The City Clerk serves as the Assistant to the Council Administrator and acts as Council Administrator as needed.  This person shares in the responsibilities of the Council Administrator.

Executive Secretary

The Executive Secretary provides responsible and professional high-level administrative and support work for the Mayor, City Council, Council Administrator and managers in the Administration Department. The person in this position is responsible for the official documentation of all City Council actions.
