The Public Works Department is among the most visible of all City of Red Wing departments. All residents receiving water, sanitary sewer, and storm water services are connected with Public Works. But it doesn’t stop there. The department’s responsibilities extend even farther, overseeing the city’s infrastructure as well as the maintenance of all public streets, sidewalks, parks and trails, athletic fields and bridges.

The City of Red Wing Public Works Department is responsible for planning, programming, construction and maintenance of Public Works facilities. This includes street infrastructure, street lighting, traffic control, sanitary storm sewer, watermain and waste water treatment facilities as well as on street, off street parking and coordination of mass transit modes.
