Volunteer Opportunities for Spring/Summer
- Planting flowers
- Weed-whipping at Oakwood Cemetery
- Weeding flower beds
- Mulching flower beds
- Watering flowers
- Dead-heading and pruning flowers
- Minor lawn maintenance of neighborhood parks
- Litter pick-up
- Sweeping/ blowing mats or sidewalks at playgrounds
- Trimming grass around fire hydrants, street signs, and guard rails
- Trimming hedges
- Lopping overgrown trees, and shrubbery
- Mowing
- Painting picnic tables, signs, and benches
- Blowing the grass off the road after mowing
- Cleaning bus shelters
- Inspecting tree grates, streetlights, and storm drains
- Weeding sidewalks
- Sidewalk inspections
- Flower basket inspection
- May fly clean-up
- Remove sticks and branches from parks after storms
Volunteer Opportunities for Fall/Winter
- Dismantling hanging flower baskets
- Pulling flowers from beds
- Shoveling snow from hockey boards at Athletic Field
- Shoveling snow from around fire hydrants
- Preparing gardens at Sheldon Performing Arts Theatre for cold weather

Even if you are unable to commit to a volunteer position, you can also help the City of Red Wing stay beautiful by picking up litter, pulling weeds or by notifying the City of Red Wing staff of areas that need tending to.
